A Year of Change

Yes, 2012 is definitely beginning as a year of change. My body and health continues to improve daily with a new commitment to my diet and regular exercise. I am now down 54 lbs. Every day I feel the best I’ve felt in years.

My bride and I just recently became members of the local church in our town. We are really excited about what God has in store for us there.

Our son Sean and his fiance’ Jessica informed us this past weekend that they are pregnant and will be moving close to home after she graduates from college. With all of this exciting change you would think BarryDean would have had enough. Oh but it isn’t enough.

Yesterday I accepted an offer from a company I am very excited to be a part of. Even as I write this blog posting my excitement continues to bubble up. The job opportunity is to me, a dream job. It will give me an opportunity to develop programs in an environment I have been longing to get into full time. It is an opportunity to really effect direction within a growing company. The new job will also allow me to get some training learn some new skills which is always exciting. It would not be appropriate to publicly divulge the name of the company right now but I will be hinting up and until my start date, which will be January 30th.

All for God’s glory!

Soli Deo Gloria!!

Grandmas, granddaughters, and fireflies

Yesterday, July 4th was a big day here in Nebraska. For further evidence just see the picture of our local granddaughter Livy (short for Olivia) nestled up against Grandma after a fun filled 4th of July. Livy fought a surprising fight against Mr. Sandman but in the end the evidence speaks for itself. You can’t hear it but she is actually sleeping to the sound of neighborhood fireworks in the near distance.

Grandchildren are the crown of the aged.. (Proverbs 17:6)

Grandmas are pretty special too.

I have also included a video of something my sweet wife dearly loves to witness. The lighting of the fireflies across the lawn in the summertime. I shot this as we were sitting on our front porch. The video is a little grainy, but the fireflies can easily been seen.

Olivia’s night out

Let me just be a bragging grandpa for a bit here. Tonight we had the privilege of keeping our granddaughter Olivia while her parents had a night out together. It was our first time keeping her without them. The first couple of hours were touch and go, meaning, one moment she would be crawling around, playing and laughing and then bawling the next. After quite some time she had become a very sleepy girl and was not about to give it up. We fed her a bottle and some cereal. That seemed to do the trick but after we laid her down she’d be right back up again. I’m sure it was pretty exciting for her. New environment without mom and dad, lots of puppy dogs to play with and all. But after some tender care by her Aunt Crysta, and the loving touch of grandma, she finally took the gentle voyage to Dreamland. At the time of this writing she is sound asleep under a pink quilt and on a soft fleece pillow. Please observe the picture for the proof. Sleeping like a real angel.
