Michael Rue

Pastor of Calvary Church in Wahoo, Nebraska

Pastor Mike and his family joined the Calvary family in November 2010. He has been married to Julie since 2005 and has two boys: Jonah (2008) and Silas (2010).

Mike joins Calvary after previously serving as the Minister of Music at Lakewood Baptist Church in Louisville, KY. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Minnesota State University,                                    Mankato and a Master of Divinity Degree from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. Prior to ministry and seminary, Mike served as a public school music teacher   in St. Clair, Minnesota.

Pastor Mike’s call to ministry:

“I was raised in a traditional faith in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Questioning the validity of the faith I was raised in, I became an agnostic / atheist, studying various world religions and ended up following Eastern philosophical traditions. Believing that morality was one of the keys to enlightenment, the only friends that I truly enjoyed spending time with were Christians, who showed me the abundant life possible through Christ. During my freshman year in college, I received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of my life. I then became involved with my university’s Campus Crusade for Chris (CRU) chapter, where I was on the leadership team and led worship at weekly meetings for a year and a half. It was also in college where I met my wife, Julie. At a CRU Christmas conference, both my wife (then fiancee) and I felt the Lord’s calling on our lives to vocational ministry, separately but at the same time. After a time of prayer and consideration, we were led to believe I was being called into pastoral ministry. In August 2007 we moved to Louisville, Kentucky to begin my school at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. In May 2009, I took on the position of Minister of Music at Lakewood Baptist Church, and in September 2010 I received the call to pastorate at Calvary Church in Wahoo.”
