Prayers have been answered – an update

23 May

Although we will miss her, my mother went home to be with Jesus Thursday morning May 22nd. She is absent from her worn out earthly body and now present with our Lord. I want to thank everyone for their prayers for our family. God is so faithful and I delight in His eternal righteousness. I just wanted to share a verse of hope for those who have ever exprienced the death of a loved one who is a believer.

1 For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 For in this tent we groan, longing to put on our heavenly dwelling, 3 if indeed by putting it on we may not be found naked. 4 For while we are still in this tent, we groan, being burdened, not that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. 5 He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. 6 So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, 7 for we walk by faith, not by sight. 8 Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. 9 So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil. 11 Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade others. But what we are is known to God, and I hope it is known also to your conscience.

2 Corinthians 5:1-11

And one more verse found at the end of Psalm 16.

11 You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Holy Scripture speaks of this joy in the presence of the Lord and what is being prepared and waiting for us in heaven. If you have an unbelieving family member, please be steadfast in your prayer for them. May God draw them to Himself and grace them with the salvation only found in His Son Jesus Christ.

    Barry,
I know that this is a bittersweet time for you. In your time of mourning, I know that the Lord will encourage you (obviously you are grieving as someone that has hope).

Will you be able to share/speak at her funeral? If you get that opportunity it can be a really helpful time. It would allow you to remember your mom’s influence and it would allow her to bring Jesus Christ glory in her death by you sharing the source of her hope to people in the service who are lost. I will pray that you can bring honor through your mom’s death by sharing the Gospel to unbelieving family or friends.

    In Christ,
    Steve
